Canon ZR830 MiniDV Camcorder with 35x Optical Zoom
This feature-rich camcorder is a bargain provided you are not much of a low light shoot or a still picture enthusiast.

Although similar to the R600, it has a longer 35x optical zoom lens and some minor menu changes on the ZR830. All controls are within reach of your thumb or fingers on the right side, and on the bezel of the 2.7-inch wide screen on the left side. Canon's Easy mode lets you shoot on autopilot, and does a nice job making decisions for you. The ZR830 lets you capture some pretty sharp pictures given its price although the same cannot be said for its low light resolution and it zooms till 75% of its range.
The ZR830 is a pleasing tape-based camcorder however if you can splurge slightly more on its big brother, the ZR850, it would probably make more sense.
