The biggest difference between the GZMG130 and the Sony SR-42 is the Optical zoom, the JVC was able to keep focus better when set on higher zoom. The software is pretty user friendly, the functions are pretty easy to use even with buttons as compared to Sony’s touch screen. However, the vast majority of users will want to download the videos to their computers and this is where the trouble begins.
None of the major video editing software’s work on the weird .mod extension, you will have to convert it into .avi or other formats which is really an avoidable nuisance. Otherwise the Everio is a great buy.
