The appealing thing about Hard-drive camcorders is that they have such a large storage capacity and still do not have to deal with tape. Still Panasonic has added an SD/SDHC flash memory card in addition to the jumbo 30GB drive, which is very convenient.
The SDR-H18 is very comfortable to hold eschewing any awkward designs; almost all the camcorder's controls can easily be reached with either a forefinger or thumb. Though variable zoom lever atop the camera gives a nice range of zoom speeds however the image stabilization doesn't effectively cover the entire zoom range, but does a good job out to approximately 75 or 80 percent of the zoom. It has an impressive image quality and the autofocus reacts quickly doing a nice job of maintaining focus while zooming.
All in all, if you prefer auto-mode more you have a solid camcorder that should appeal to a wide range of users considering the above mentioned benefits.
