Digital SLR Camera Features

Much before you make up your mind to buy a digital SLR camera, ask yourself some basic questions and decide on the features of the camera. Most of the SLRs are sold as a system just like home furniture wherein you can make combinations of the elements to assemble a system that suits your need and your budget.

Typically, a digital SLR camera includes a body, multiple lenses, flash units, various connecting cords, storage media cards and a software to edit images on the computer. However, you can look for certain additional features in the unit that will suit your need. Some of the common features of a SLR camera are:

Lens Interchangeability: feature augments the ability of the SLR camera to shoot on a wide range. Different lenses help you to take wide-angle, telephoto, or close-up shots.

Autofocus: allows you to focus manually. It enables SLR camera to automatically focus. But if one wants to change the focus point you have to simply select the AF points which are in the middle and set them accordingly.

Exposure Compensation: is used to make the appearance of white objects white. This is done in case of overexposure or underexposure.

Lens & Sensors: different combinations of small lens and large lens and small sensor and large sensors are widely available in SLR cameras.

Reflex Mirror: swings up when you press the shutter button. It allows light from the lens to pass through to the sensor
