• Super SteadyShot image stabilization and NightShot Plus technology

An updated version of last year's DCR-HC26, the HC28 is aimed squarely at budget conscious point-and-shoot enthusiasts.
The picture quality obtained from the DCR-HC28 is in line with other entry-level units. Colors are generally well-saturated with good contrast. There is some picture noise apparent as the level of available light decreases, but overall, the low light performance is good for a sub-$300 DV camcorder. The night vision is very grainy beyond 10 feet. The DCR-HC28 is far more adept at automatic controls than the time-consuming manual controls. The battery life is an impressive 14-hours, however, If you are looking for a DV camcorder with a functional stills capability, the DCR-HC28 is not for you.
Taking its low price into account, the Sony DCR-HC28 is an inexpensive first step into the world of DV camcorders.
